Systemic Treatments

These are treatments that can attack cancer cells anywhere in your body.

Chemotherapy, anti-oestrogen treatment and targeted therapies are what we call systemic treatments.  That means that we expect the drugs to travel through the whole body to help kill microscopic cancer cells that have spread away from the breast and lymph nodes but are too small to be detectable. For ladies with early cancer these treatments can be considered as an "insurance policy" against the cancer coming back elsewhere in your body.
